AITA Trade Department

There is a plethora of opportunity for trade for Australian and New Zealand companies. The resent entry of China into the World Trade Organisation has expanded these opportunities, and the geographical situation, along with the favourable exchange rate makes trade in the Asia-Pacific region increasingly lucrative.

AITA as a broad range of Members, contacts and affiliates at home and abroad to assist you to take advantage of the opportunities available. Our Travel department, specialised experience, and overseas offices make it possible for you to draw on this experience and contact to take advantage of the opportunities available.

There are many regular fairs and conventions each year to showcase products, equipment, skills, as well as opportunities. AITA can provide advice about events, which may be of interest to your business and can organize all details of your travel through our Travel Department A brief description of Some Regional Top Export fairs are listed below, but this by no means reflects the masses events in region, only the most well know and longest running fairs.

The Urumqi International Trade Fair

In its 12 th Year, the Urumqi International Trade Fair is a trade and development fair that endeavours to promote Western China Development. Supported by the Central Government's push to develop opportunities in Western China, the Urumqi International Trade Fair provides an opportunity for Australian local councils to take in interest in foreign investment, and develop relationships with Cities in the Region.

  • Japan Association for Promotion of International Trade
  • Department of Foreign Economic Relations of Altai Region Administration Of Russia
  • Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kazakhstan

    The fair is now also held on-line, allowing greater flexibility and making it even more popular with foreign traders.

    East China Fair

    The East China Fair is held in Shanghai in March of every year. This has become a major event in China, having been held annually since 1991, making 2002 the twelfth annual fair. The fair is normally divided into 3 main areas: Textiles and Garments, Arts and Crafts and Light Industry, and will cover an area of 70 thousand square meters.

    Overseas businesses are actively encouraged to participate in the fair, both to display goods and participate in negotiations for commerce, investment or joint ventures. Huge numbers of potential clients and others visit this fair each year from an estimated 130 countries.

    Chinese Export Commodities Fair (also known as Canton Fair)

    The Chinese Export Commodities Fair is held in Guangzhou twice a year, in Spring and Autumn. This is one of the longest running and largest trade fairs in China, having been inaugurated in 1957.

    The fair covers a comprehensive range of commodities, has a very large attendance and high business turnover. The fair has developed a reputation as a major international event, with excellent credibility. Many domestic and foreign trade delegations attend, as well as individual domestic and foreign businesses from a range of areas, including investment, insurance, advertising, transportation, education, tourism and scientific research.

    The fair is now also held on-line, allowing greater flexibility and making it even more popular with foreign traders.

    China Kunming Export Commodities Fair (also known as Kunming Fair)

    The China Kunming Export Commodities Fair is held year from 6 - 11 June at Kunming, Yunnan Province. This is a major regional export fair, jointly organized by Chongqing and Chengdu Municipalities, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan Provinces, and Guangxi and Tibet Autonomous Regions. The fair has the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. A huge range of products and services available for import / export are showcased, including machinery, textiles, investment, information technology, tobacco and many more.
